Saint Denis du Payré Nature Reserve

Just a few minutes from Camping La Pinède***, discover the bird observatory at the Saint-Denis-du-Payré nature reserve.
It is home to over 140 species of birds in different seasons.

It’s an ideal location for observing the region’s nature and wildlife.

The Réserve Naturelle Nationale du Marais Communal de Saint-Denis-du-Payré or Réserve Naturelle Michel Brosselin is a national nature reserve classified in 1976.

It covers an area of 206 hectares and protects a communal marsh typical of the Marais Poitevin.

Take advantage of the migration periods from late February to May or from July to October, when migratory birds make a stopover in Vendée. It’s a protected area where they can enjoy a peaceful stay.

Here you can discover :

• In summer, Eurasian Spoonbill, Black-tailed Godwit, White-winged Stilt…
• In winter, populations of migratory birds from Northern Europe and Scandinavia: Greylag Geese, Whistling Ducks, Green-winged Teals…

There are so many living species in the nature reserve that are not listed because they are so numerous, and they can be observed in all seasons.
